ROCHESTER DROPS DETROIT, 10-5. ENDS WAZA FLO'S SEASON

ROCHESTER, NY - In front of a sold out arena, the Rochester Lancers topped the Waza Flo, 10-5, in a must-win game for both teams. The loss ends Detroit's season while the Lancers now focus on their upcoming playoff game against the Mustangs in Chicago.

The teams started out pretty evenly matched as the Lancers struck first off a shot from Gary Boughton before Detroit respnded with two goals of their own from Ahmed Zaky and Rodrigo Siqueria to take a 2-1 lead. Rochester connected on two more goals from Doug Miller and Boomer Steigleman to retake the advantage. With seven seconds remaining in the first quarter, Siqueria scored again for Detroit to tie the game at three after one quarter.

The teams again traded goals with Jeremy Ortiz scoring for Rochester and Mario Morana for Detroit before Rochester ultimately capitalized on their chances and started to pull away from the Flo. The Lancers finished off the final three minutes of the half by scoring as many goals from Ortiz, Boughton, and Michael Cunningham to cruise to a 7-4 advantage at the half.

The Waza Flo would not go down quietly as they cut the lead to just two when a Saeed Tawil pass took a fortuitous deflection and rolled past the Rochester keeper. The effort was not enough in the end, though, as Ortiz, Jake Schindler, and Boughton tallied three more goals for the hosts as they extended their season via a 10-5 victory over the Waza Flo.

The Detroit Waza Flo organization would like to thank all of their fans for their continued support this season and for making their first season at the Detroit City Fieldhouse a positive one. Keep an eye on the Flo Facebook page for updates on the team as they look to retake a field near you sooner rather than later.
