April 22, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Waza Flo as a new league member kicking off with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in Detroit (Mich.), Waza Flo will play in the UPSL Midwest Conference East Division. The club will host its UPSL home games at High Velocity sports park (46245 Michigan Ave., Canton, MI 48188) in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League National Director Matt Kahla said, "We are pleased to welcome Waza Flo to the UPSL's Midwest Conference for the Spring Season. Owners Dominic and Mario Scicluna are legends in the game in Michigan with Waza Flo. Now they're taking a team into the UPSL as the next step in their club's development. It's a great thing for soccer in Michigan, and we wish them well as they make their UPSL debut this weekend."

Dominic and Mario Scicluna are co-Owners for Waza Flo, a charter member of Major Arena Soccer League, and currently operate a team in MASL 2, the league's second division.

Waza Flo Co-Owner Mario Scicluna said, "We've known about the UPSL for quite some time, and we just finished with our MASL 2 season and coming off a national championship with Major League Futsal, so we want to have a year-round program so players can play indoors in the fall and winter, and outdoors in the spring and summer. We're looking forward to seeing a lot of players who are teammates during the indoor season be our dance partners in the UPSL."

The team's nickname, "Waza", is both a Japanese word that means "good technique" and a Swahili word meaning "to think clearly."

Waza Flo is a fully-integrated soccer business with professional teams, adult amateur teams, youth clubs in Michigan and New York, and academies in Nigeria and Uganda.

Linette DeSano serves as General Manager of Waza Flo's UPSL entrant. Lucian Popescu is the Head Coach.

Waza Flo hosts BIH Grand Rapids in its UPSL opener at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at High Velocity Sports. Tickets are $5 at the gate. Parking is free.
